Sumatra Medical Teams in need of Prayer and Financial Support

A report received overnight from Rev. Kuntadi Sumadikarya, Head of GKI Humanitarian (Indonesian Christian Church), has detailed the significant relief efforts of the church’s medical teams to date.  The first teams returned from the Padang area on 13th October after caring for thousands of people not covered by other response efforts and distributing essential food and aid material. Full details of the response are available in the report here.

Rev. Kuntadi also reports the second 25 member medical team is now on the ground, taking with them 50 boxes of essential medicine and supplies.

As of the 14th October the expenditure of the GKI has been just under $58,000 AUD ($53,000 USD). To enable ongoing relief efforts Rev. Kuntadi has requested further financial support from UnitingWorld.

Donations to our Sumatra Earthquake Appeal have reached $9,500. The Relief and Development unit of UnitingWorld has now sent an initial $8,000 to support the medical team effort and would like to do more.

Please give generously.
