UnitingWorld congratulates the Right Rev. Sir Samson Lowa, Moderator of the United Church in PNG and former member of the UnitingWorld Reference Committee, who is now a Knight of the British Empire (KBE).

He was awarded the KBE in recognition of his ongoing service to education, community and the United Church in PNG during the Queen’s Birthday honours and awards over the weekend.
Unitingworld National Director, Rev. Dr Kerry Enright has conveyed good wishes to him and to the United Church in PNG in recognition of his achievements.
Sir Samson was first voted into office with the United Church in PNG in 1996, where he served as the Moderator-elect for two years before entering into office in 1998. His current term concludes in 2012.
UnitingWorld works closely with the United Church in PNG on a range of community development projects throughout the country. The successful Church Partnership Program, funded by the Australian Government through AusAID, builds the capacity of the Church in PNG to provide health and education facilities to local communities.
The Rural Village Water project operates in Milne Bay to connect remote communities to a reliable source of clean water and sanitation.
