WCC Calls on Political Leaders to Prioritise People Living in Poverty

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has issued a statement calling for world leaders to reassess their budget priorities to serve people who are most in need.

“We believe that mobilizing the financial resources needed for poverty eradication and the achievement of the MDGs… is a matter of political will, yes, and also of moral courage,” said the WCC in their statement.

The WCC issues this statement ahead of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Summit taking place on 20-22 September this year in New York, aimed to accelerate the process of meeting the eight MDGs by the  2015 deadline.
