Cook Islands and Tonga Battered by Cyclones

Share Two of UnitingWorld’s Partner Churches, the Cook Islands Christian Church and the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga, have been affected by cyclones. Last Thursday a state of disaster was declared on the island of Aitutaki in the Cook Islands after it was struck by Tropical Cyclone Pat. UnitingWorld volunteer tells of Tonga Ferry disaster

Share Margaret Tabor and her husband John Phelps, from Tasmania, are currently serving in Tonga through UnitingWorld Experience. Margaret is a nurse and happened to be visiting the island of Lifuka in Ha’apai, Tonga, when the Princess Ashika ferry sank nearby. The survivors were taken into Lifuka for medical care.
