Earthquake hits Nepal

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake has struck north west of Nepal’s capital city of Kathmandu and the impact has extended to northern India. Over 4000 people are dead and thousands believed to be injured. Huge sections of the capital city have been flattened.

ACT Alliance, of which UnitingWorld is a member, have agencies working on the ground and are assessing immediate needs. They report current needs include search and rescue, water, food and blankets and shelter.
