Everything in Common Gift Stall

UW_EIC_Media Promo_595x510In order to enable Uniting Church people to purchase gifts in a very easy way at your local church, school or group, why not consider holding an Everything in Common Gift Stall ?

In doing so you are also connecting people with partners of the Uniting Church in Asia, Africa and the Pacific, alleviating poverty and working for justice.

Steps to running an Everything in Common Gift Stall

1.Appoint a Everything in Common Gift Stall Coordinator(s)

3.  Set your Date(s)

You can run a gift stall at any time of year but in the lead up to Christmas the last Sunday of November through to the week before Christmas are the best dates. If you get low on stock of cards after one Sunday just contact us and we will express post out some extra stock.

4.  Get your Materials

To order the Gift Stall materials contact Erica via ericah@unitingworld.org.au or call 02 8267 4449 who will assist to obtain a kit of materials appropriate to the size of your group.

5. Promote the Gift Stall day(s)

- the Uniting Church in Australia's own gift catalogue

In a Uniting way, this is the place to buy gifts that feed the hungry, give sight to the blind, free the captive and bring good news to the poor.

The Everything in Common Catalogue is our own 100% Uniting Church gift catalogue for those in our world living in poverty. It’s a gift catalogue with a difference!

In choosing a gift from the Catalogue, you choose to say ‘no’ to a society that applauds excess. Instead, in a Uniting Church way, you stand alongside those who believe that Jesus modelled an alternative community based on simplicity, generosity and inclusion.

On Sunday/s _ & _ we will be hosting a Gift Stall in the foyer where you can purchase unique gifts such as ‘Fatten a Pig’, ‘Feed a Volunteer’, ‘Set a table’ and ‘Care for an orphan’.

Why not buy your Christmas gifts and get a card for loved ones on the spot. There’s a choice of gifts at $10, $20, $35 & $50

  • Perhaps get your creative team onto writing a drama or skit or a creative announcement?
  • Use Facebook to promote the event?

6. Set up your Gift Stall

Suggested format (see graphic above):

i.  Set up the posters at the rear of your table on a notice board or wall.

ii. Place fabric over the table - perhaps from Asia or the Pacific.

iii. From left to right place the four price point cards in the middle of the table with all tax
deductible facing one way and non tax deductible the other.

iv. Layout the cards at the four price points of $10, $20, $35 and $75 with red and green cards
(Relief & Development / Peacemaking) on the tax deductible side and blue and gold cards
(Church Solidarity / Experience) on the other.

v. Have the coupons and pens for people to place their orders.

vii Place a good number of copies of the Fast Selection Guide of the catalogue on the table and
a few of the full catalogue on hand for those wanting the full array of gift options to order separately.

The Everything in Common Gift Stall kit includes everything you need to run a stall. But why stop there? We’ve been thinking about ways to make your stall look even more eye catching and engaging. Here are some of our ideas:

  • Set up the display in an interactive way. Create talking points by having a bowl of eggs on the table next to the cards to match the ‘Lay An Egg’ gift. You can ‘Throw Out A Line’ by putting fishing net around the base of the stall. Point out the “Lifeline” gift by propping a lifesaving ring against the stall. If you want to get really creative, how about a few live chickens?
  • UnitingWorld partners are a diverse range of organisations and churches from all over the world. You can use the stall to highlight this, perhaps by playing traditional music from our partner countries, or offering a sample of Asian treats.

7. Review the order process
