Wills and Bequests

Making a Will is one of the most important decisions you can make in your life.

It ensures your wishes are carried out and that the values you hold most deeply live on through the work of others after your death.

Thank you for your interest in making a bequest in your Will to UnitingWorld.

earthen floored classroom_PNGUnitingWorld is an agency of the National Assembly of the Uniting Church in Australia. We connect people and church communities in Australia, the Pacific, Asia and Africa to partner in God’s mission; enabling relief and development, discipleship and faith-filled action.

Our vision is to see a growing movement of people and church communities – inspired, energised and transformed through global engagement with trusted partners, alleviating poverty and making peace

If you wish to leave a bequest in your Will for the general purposes of UnitingWorld, please use the following wording:

“I give and bequeath to UCA Assembly Limited for the purposes of UnitingWorld (the residue of my estate), or (a percentage) or (a specified sum) or (other such provision) free of all duties, and the receipt of the Secretary or other authorised officer for the time being shall be a complete and sufficient discharge for the executor(s).”

If you already have a Will you can add an amendment or codicil using the above wording.

If you have already included Uniting Church Overseas Aid (UCOA) or Uniting International Mission (UIM) in your Will, there is no need to make an amendment. Your gift will be automatically redirected to UnitingWorld.

A residual gift (i.e. the residue of your estate) means a percentage or the remainder of your estate can be left to UnitingWorld after your family, friends and other beneficiaries have been provided for.

We strongly recommend you seek legal advice before making amendments to your Will and if possible talk about your Will with your family. Please also make sure your Solicitor, a family member or friend knows where your Will is located.

You can also choose to leave a bequest for a specific area of our work. UnitingWorld’s three distinct areas of engagement are:

  • Church Connections
  • Experience Programs (Assisted Volunteers)
  • Relief and Development

If you’d like to find out more about these areas, or you’d simply like to discuss including UnitingWorld in your Will, please contact our bequest officer:
