PROJECT OFFICER – Methodist Church in Fiji / UnitingWorld Pacific Programs Team
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Methodist Church in Fiji and UnitingWorld are jointly seeking a energetic and passionate candidate who is keen to support transformative change in church and community through well implemented projects.
If you have great organisational skills, a passion for working with church and community groups, experience in project work and want to be involved in supporting genuine transformative change within a dynamic team environment, you should apply for this role.
The successful candidate will have the relational and technical skills to work well with a diverse range of people and organisations across the pacific, provide hands-on support to projects and drive networking and collaboration between project partners across the Pacific. The candidate will join a strong multi-disciplinary team, based in Suva and Sydney, and be expected to travel regularly.

ABOUT THE METHODIST CHURCH IN FIJI
The Methodist Church in Fiji seeks to employ a person to support the implementation of regional programs funded by UnitingWorld. The successful applicant will be employed directly by the Methodist Church in Fiji and seconded to UnitingWorld. Day to day supervision and reporting lines will be to UnitingWorld. The position is based in Suva, Fiji and requires travel within the region, including to Sydney.

UnitingWorld has 36 partner churches across the Pacific, Asia and Africa. In the Pacific region, UnitingWorld supports programs with partner churches in Fiji, Vanuatu, PNG, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Solomon Islands and Tonga, including both community development and Christian ministry programs. The programs in the Pacific focus primarily on gender equality, climate justice and disaster preparedness.
UnitingWorld happily accepts volunteers interested in assisting with administrative duties and special projects in our Sydney CBD office throughout the year. We are always looking for people interested in assisting in a variety of ways when we host overseas guests from our Church Partners. If you can give 30 minutes a week, a few hours a week, a day a month or just help on a special project, we’d love to hear from you. No experience is required for most tasks and we often need assistance with the following items:
- help with hosting an overseas guest (provide accommodation, act as a tour guide, meet for a meal, etc.)
- help with transportation needs during an overseas guest visit
- assisting our Donor Liaison Officer
- data entry
- preparing materials for overseas workshops
- assisting with the various projects around the December holiday season
- ongoing work with our archives
- assisting our communications team to prepare resources for speaking engagements and mail-outs
