Vanuatu Church Partnership Program
The Church Partnership Program, Vanuatu is a partnership between AusAID, Vanuatu Council of Churches (VCC) and the Vanuatu Government. It aims to strengthen the governance, management and service delivery of the VCC and seven of its member churches in Vanuatu.
The five year program focuses on improving infrastructure and training in areas such as water, sanitation, education, health and the empowerment of women. These programs are delivered through a partnership between seven Vanuatu churches and their Australian NGO counterparts. Under the Church Partnership Program UnitingWorld works alongside its local partner, The Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu, to implement development and management projects.
AusAID provides much of the funding for this program as it believes the churches in Vanuatu could play a stronger and more effective role in policy and service delivery.
2011 Updates
In 2010-11 HIV/AIDS awareness sessions have been conducted in four presbyteries; a good governance program has been rolled out across the church; and three women’s groups have been trained in livelihood skills. The employment of three regionally based project officers is also enabling greater localisation of CPP projects.
