Zimbabwe Food Relief Appeal

14-Aug-09 175Sophia Chiparu is an elderly lady living in a rural village in Buhera District, Zimbabwe. Like many rural villagers she has a small mud and straw home but little else. She recently received emergency food supplies funded by UnitingWorld. Sophia strained to collect every last grain of corn which had fallen to the ground, knowing the value of even the smallest amount of food in a time of scarcity.

In response to the need of people like Sophia, UnitingWorld has launched an Emergency Food Relief appeal to distribute food supplies to affected communities in Buhera. We have already forwarded $25,000 to our partner which provided 835 families with emergency food supplies. The food packs have given each family enough food for two weeks as well as soap and cooking oil. The need of the Zimbabwean community means that much more support is required to assist those suffering from ongoing food shortage.

Many more Zimbabweans like Sophia Chiparu are relying on your kind support to get through this difficult time. Please give generously to help continue UnitingWorld and our partner’s work to provide Food Relief in Zimbabwe.
