ACT Alliance

The Relief and Development Unit of UnitingWorld is a member of the ACT Alliance, a global coalition of relief and development agencies related to the World Council of Churches and Lutheran World Federation.

ACT is an alliance of 125 churches working in over 140 countries. The Alliance mobilises US$1.6 billion annually in its work, which includes providing emergency food supplies, shelter and provisions in the event of conflict or disaster as well as long term development programs.

Membership of the Alliance will expand Relief and Development’s capacity to respond to humanitarian emergencies in a well-coordinated and effective way. It will also increase the Relief and Development Unit’s ability to raise and direct donations from UCA members in response to emergencies.

By working with other members of the ACT Alliance who are well established and known on the ground, funds can promptly be directed to where they are needed most.
