Did you know that the World Bank measure on poverty indicates about 1 billion people still live on less than $1.25 a day and more than 800 million people are without enough food to eat?

The annual One World WonTok Conference returns again to engage secondary students in highly interactive learning activities to raise awareness about the complexities of global poverty.  The 2016 One World WonTok Conference will travel to Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth schools. This year’s focus is the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – a universal guide for nations as they develop policies and overseas aid programs designed to end poverty (see more here). Conference objectives include:WonTok crop a

  • Increasing student’s understanding of the lives of people who live in poverty
  • Increasing student’s understanding of sustainable development
  • Growing student’s awareness of global inter-connectedness
  • Equipping student leaders to become peer educators
  • Providing opportunity for inter-school relationships
