Cyclone Winston Response (Fiji)

Project page 2 (long)

In February 2016 Category 5 Tropical Cyclone Winston cut a path of destruction across Fiji. 350,000 people were affected. 43 people died and many more were injured. More than 62,000 displaced people (approx. 14% of the population) required shelter and assistance in the immediate aftermath.

Partnering with The Methodist Church in Fiji, we support affected communities to fully recover by providing them with resources needed for survival during the emergency response phase and longer term reconstruction assistance to repair or rebuild damaged health, education and community facilities.

Our Impact

We supported 50 communities to recover from the impact of the cyclone through emergency provisions, infrastructure repairs and trauma counselling.
