During the struggle for independence, a generation of people in Timor Leste (East Timor) missed out on basic education. This gap is now manifesting itself as a shortage of leaders and teachers in the church, particularly in rural areas.
The church’s ability to teach and care for its members is reliant on lay as well as ordained teachers. Even those with junior secondary education lack basic Christian education or resources in pastoral care, worship, preaching and teaching.
We support our partners in providing training for their community leaders with skills necessary for teaching, guiding organising the ministry of the church.
